Nicole was already in Maddie's saddle when Chad led Grand Boldness up.
"It's about time you two got here." Nicole said with a wide grin.
Chad swung into the colts saddle, gathering up the reins and patting the colts arched neck. "Grand was getting very excited, nearly ran me over a few times to get here." Chad said with a chuckle.
Maddie squealed, stretched out her neck to touch noses with the colt. "You all set?" Nicole asked her son.
Chad quickly adjusted the stirrups before nodding and urging Grand forward onto the trail with Nicole and Maddie right at their side.
"These two are looking really good." Nicole commented, looking from both Maddie to Grand.
Grinning Chad nodded in agreement. "I bet your thinking of breeding these two when they get older."
Nicole laughed. "It's a possibility. But we need to get new lines into our barn."
After walking down the fairly dry trail, they led the horses off-trail into the mud and waving between trees until they reached another smooth but sloppy trail. "Let's trot them a bit." Chad said, already tapping the colt into a trot and Maddie willingly followed.
Nicole and Chad laughed as the mud splashed everywhere. "Can you believe how dirty were getting just for trotting?" Nicole asked giggling. Her pants were already covered in mud.
For another hour, Nicole, Chad, Maddie and Grand walked and trotted through the mud and in between trees and up and over mountains before heading back to the barn on a nice easy trail.
"It's about time you two got here." Nicole said with a wide grin.
