Faith is more than anxious to jump, and I can feel her excitement as I warm her up with some dressage. She always goes out of her way to be obedient and please me all she can, but she’s feeling so great it’s hard for her to hold herself in. Her strides are sure and smooth, and beyond comfortable. I smile as I think how lucky I am to have a horse who’s such a dream to ride. Once she’s warmed up, I set up some jumps around the arena, and She knickers and whinnies in anticipation. I give her a petting as I remount, and then take her over the course. There are jumps of every size and width, and Faith never puts a foot wrong as she sails over them each with at least a foot to spare. She’s such a great jumper. I make sure to give her plenty of praise and petting. I’m just glad I could make her happy. When we finish flying around the course for about the tenth time, I know even though she isn’t acting at all winded and is barely sweating, I can’t let myself get carried away and let her wear herself out. I pull her up and pet her, doing all I can to let her know I love her.
