As we go down the trails, Razzle goes quietly when he knows that’s what I want from him and shows his heart and spirit when we have a sprint or jump the fallen logs and streams. He and I have really gotten to be in tune with each other. It’s hard to believe that this is the same horse I adopted who wanted to take a bite out of me. Of course, he never acted up when I was in his saddle, but now he’s responding because he wants to, not just because he’s tolerating doing what I want. That makes all the difference in the way he performs for me, no matter what we’re doing. He even looks better, with a kinder look in his eye and more bounce in his step. Not that he wasn’t beautiful before. He may not be a racer, but I love the anglo- arab as much as any thoroughbred, and I know he loves me back. We end with a string of flying lead changes down the trails just for fun, and he prances through them happily.
