I take Faith out on the cross country course today to let her take on a variety of jumps. There’s no telling what she’ll encounter on different jump courses, but I reason that the jumps won’t seem so scary to her after these jumps since these jumps are pretty big. I grin as I see her eyes light up at the start of the course, knowing he must be looking forward to jumping. I give her the signal to start, and we take on a hogsback, bullfinch, V- trunk, arrowhead, drop fence, bank, water jump, coop, brush fence, stone wall, the super difficult corner, rolltop, a sharks’ teeth jump, and a variety of combinations including coffins and sunken roads. There’s even an Irish bank that I have to ride Faith up, and then guide her as she has to slide down the other side and take another water jump. The course is grueling, but Faith practically laughs with her whinny at the end of it, as if saying “Are those the hardest jumps you can throw at me? That’s an insult to my jumping ability.” I smile at her attitude, and give her a big hug before cooling her out, sponging her off, and re- grooming her. I pet her as I lead her out to her paddock.
