Teddy gracefully goes through the dressage figures he's learned so far as I warm him up, asking him to take the figures at the walk, trot, and cater until every muscle is limber. We work on extending and collecting after that, and he lengthens and shortens his strides just like I ask. Then I put him through the different steps, and I’m amazed again at how instantly he responds to my signals and how much of a team we are. That’s what I love about dressage. It really makes a horse and rider one mind in two bodies. Teddy and I have needed that since he's always been a hot tempered difficult horse. I’ve combined dressage with Parelli lessons for Teddy, so it’s worked even better. I smile thinking of the progress we've made as I cool him out.
