Teddy seems as glad to be out as I am. After awhile Teddy feels the need to show his spirits and run. I ride him to an open meadow where I can let him open up and run . He’s such an amazing horse. He’s so spirited, but he’s as responsive and in tune with me as Pirate during a dressage show. AT least, today he is. He has such a long and graceful stride, and sticks his neck out like this were a race and he’s trying to cover as much distance as he can in the least time possible. I close my eyes and feel the rhythm of his stride. One two three…One two three, like a waltz. Although we’re galloping, it doesn’t seem to be taking the least bit out of him. He actually seems to be invigorated by the exercise and the warm sunshine. When we slow back down to a trot, he arches his neck and steps like his legs are made out of springs, telling me he’s feeling fantastic. I always impressed by how the lightest touch of the reins will guide him, controlling his overflowing energy. When the tickle is out of his feet I bring him back to a walk to cool him out. He seems much happier now, and although he’s had his exercise, he’s every bit as fresh as before, only clear of the fidgets. We take the long way home, just enjoying being out on the trails together.
