"Really?" Jackson asked when he found out Char was indeed Canadian. "Sweet. I thought I was way off and you'd be likem "I'm Scandenavian" or something like that." He laughed. "Going home to Georgia is rough. So I try to stick to two homes." He looked at the dog and nodded. "Lucy and I would love to go on a walk with you. Her way of apologizing for knocking you down." Jackson was learning quickly that Char was gonna do what she wanted to do. He figured this out because she started walking away without waiting for his reply. It was a good think he was taller than her and could easily make up the distance.

"Nope. Not me. If you go back I'm from Germany, Switzerland and England. Nuthin' to fancy," she laughed along with him, this feeling made her stomach give a little twist in surprise. It was a new and strange feeling. "'Pology accepted," she knelt briefly and ruffled the dogs fur before stepping off again. "Of course, it'll be a change to be in company for once,"then nodding towards the dog, "She's cute. Had her long?" As Char moved down the beach, she smiled to herself, she could tell that Jax might have to work to keep up with her a bit. Quickly though, he caught up to her, their strides matching the others. Turning her shoulders towards him, she looked at him a moment, almost as if contemplating. "So.." she finally started, "what exactly brings you here? Not here as in the beach? But as in this area? yeah I guess that's what I'm asking." She smiled thoughtfully.

Jackson laughed. "Ask my granddaddy and I'm Southern born and bred. Nothing else matters." It was an odd way things worked in the southern half of the country. Not much mattered as long as you could trace your family back from there. "But it's pretty cool that you know that." he added. He looked down at Lucy and shook his head. "She's three and we got her when she was six weeks. So I guess you could say so." Jackson himself reached down to pet the dog before following Char along the beach. "Childhood friends bought a farm up here and I decided coming to stay with them for a while would be a pretty decent idea. Change of scenery and climate you know."

As Jax laughed, Char felt herself relaxing and able to laugh a bit more freely with each step. "Southern bred, eh?" She looked at him, the questions rolling into her mind. "For me, I was considered the Southern bred of Canadians. Had to actually go North to get across the border." Rayleigh laced her fingers together and stretched her arms out in front of her as they walked, twisting, she cracked her back, it felt good to stretch too. How much had she missed in these past weeks? As she listened, she caught Jackson use the word "we". *We? Who is this we, he speaks of? Should I ask? No I shouldn't. I can't, it'd be rude. But I would really like to know now that he's mentioned it. You think it'd be okay. Well he doesn't have to actually answer me, so what the hell.* "You're right, that can seem like a long time, but at the same time, it can seem like yesterday. But you say 'we'. You've got yourself a special someone other than Luce?" she teased him gently. Listening again, she rolled her eyes. "Of course. Why else would you come here? I know it's not my place to say anything, and don't take me wrong, but you almost seem... " she tried to grasp the right word, "out of place?" She bit her lip and snuck a look at him through the corner of her eye, wondering if she had said anything wrong.

"How does that even work?" Jackson asked looking at her curiously. It didn't make much sense to him. Having to go north to cross the border? If she wasn't across the border then how was..? Well, it isn't really important he decided. "Man, Lucy is family. It seems like just yesterday she was chewing EVERYTHING she could sink her little teeth into," he laughed again. This girl, Charleigh, was asking about Paige..Even though she didn't know it, she was still asking about Paige. "Yeah, well sorta. Paige and I got Lucy together." He stared at his feet. Maybe she wouldn't press the matter further. Jackson was definately out of place. Char had hit the nail right on the head. "No, it's okay, and you're really rather correct on that one. I AM out of place. But what can a guy do?"

OOC: heya sorry I've been soooo horrible at replying. I'm surprised how much work is actually draining me, then I try to go out biking most nights, so that doesn't exactly help. =\

Rayleigh just shook her head, throwing a few strands of her brown hair loose. "I still really don't get it. And I lived up there for seventeen years of my life." She could only really roll her eyes at that, it was just one of those things she tried not to think about. As Jax laughed as he mentioned Lucy's puppy days, she let herself laugh a little too. Though she did notice as he dropped his eyes, an air of forbidden grounds edging closer to their conversation. A chill ran up her spine and she tried to shrug it off. Looking at him more closely again, she felt the urge to almost try and comfort this man, but she held back, fighting herself. "Hey look at it this way. Nobody really knows who you are, right? If that's the case, you've got yourself a free deck of wildcards, play 'em how you want. Nobody will really know the difference. Starting with me," she nudged him playfully in the rib cage with her elbow, a small grin on her lips.
